derbyshire-peakdistrict.co.uk

In December 2003, I launched a website covering Derbyshire and the Peak District. The site included a special section on Derby.

After two years the site was regularly averaging above 1,000 visitors per day. Unfortunately, shortly after changing my email address. I did not get a reminder to renew my domain name and lost it. My old site is still in existence. Currently, it is being used by someone unknown to me to place advertisements. I have tried to make contact but have been unsuccessful. The text and images used on the old site are copyrighted. Apart from a few that I was permitted to use by the Derby Telegraph.

Pandemic

Whilst self-isolating during the pandemic. I decided to build a second website – discover-derby.co.uk. The text and images used have been built up by me over the last ten years. More will be added in due course.

It might be an idea to make the site one of your favourites if you are particularly interested in Derby. In addition, I would appreciate any comments and suggestions you may have. So please use the contact form to get in touch.

IT Skills

Finally, an admission, my IT and website building skills are very limited!! So, I have kept the layout of the site very simple. Without the help of Peter Dunn showing me how to build a responsive website using WordPress, I may not have completed my project.

Building a website from scratch is not easy for a non-technical person. I know that if I were to start again, I would do things much differently. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy my site and if so do not forget to tell your friends. Something I would very much appreciate.

The site is independent and the copyright is always that of the webmaster.
